Game studies or “gaming theory” is an academic discipline that deals with the critical study of games. More specifically, it focuses on game design, players, and their role in society and culture. I’ve been playing video games all my life. Ever since I was maybe 4 or 5, I’ve had my hands on a mouse and keyboard. Over the years, I’ve developed a keen eye for what makes a game good or bad. Along with props, costumes, games, and code, I will be posting essays critically reviewing practices of game development companies, voicing my opinions on various topics.
From the lowly reviews to the lofty takes on games, developers, reviewers, and ideas, I hope to at least sway a few minds with my thinking.
